I spent my first two weekends in an apartment that has history with new friends from a small world. I love getting bits of their cultures (Germany, China, and Spain), and find myself being at ease with being American and being foreign and having a culture of my own to share.
Of course, the best way to share culture is by sharing food. Steffi (from Germany) prepared a three course meal of food from her region. The soup was called Flädlesuppe, and the main dish was Kässpätzle. For dessert, she dipped apples slices in batter and fried them. We spinkled them with cinnamon sugar, and placed a kiwi on top.
I was asked if there was a typical dish from my region, and the first thing I could think of was the peanut butter and chocolate candy buckeyes. I would love to know, what would you say?
